If I bake potatoes on a Thursday will they be good Saturday?
I am going camping and would like to contribute bake potatoes for 8 people. Can I bake them on Thursday to eat on Saturday night?
Or should I try and bake all 8 potatoes in the fire during the trip. Will they have the right consistency if warmed up on Saturday or will they be weird?
Would it take forever to cook on Saturday in the fire?
If you cook potatoes with too much time in advance it can make them taste partially rancid, particularly if you are not very careful about their storage.
Have in mind that the process of cooking, refrigerating (more than a day) and then reheating the potatoes could probably cause some loss of vitamins and minerals.
An idea for you to consider is to make some potato skewers.
You can use baby red potatoes (they have thin skin) for a short cooking time; you can use some olive oil and sprinkle some Italian seasoning or Herbes de Provence for more taste. Get someone to put up a grill over the fire.
And cook the baby potatoes’ skewers, turning them every 10 min. They should be ready in approximately 35 to 45 minutes depending on various factors.
