The Popular Cheesy Potatoes Recipe

Baked and mashed potatoes are pretty good, but they pale in comparison to the unique of flavor of potatoes with cheese. You probably already know that everything you mix with cheese becomes even better (maybe not everything, but potatoes definitely do). The cheesy potatoes recipe has various ingredients that increase its flavor and is actually simple to prepare.

Delicious cheesy potatoes


  • 5 red potatoes (peeled, boiled, cut in slices)
  • 1 red onion (finely diced)
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 clove garlic (pressed)
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups Cheddar cheese
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (cut into small cubes)
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp thyme leaves (chopped)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese


  1. First, cook onion and garlic in butter in low heat, but don't let them brown. 

  2. Then, add flour and stir constantly for about 3 minutes.

  3. After that add chicken broth and keep stirring constantly; then add milk and heavy cream. Heat it until it gets hot. 

  4. Next, add 1/2 cup of Cheddar cheese and 4 ounces of cream cheese. 

  5. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until all the cheese has melted.

  6. It's time to add thyme, nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste.

  7. Place potatoes in a baking dish. (Use some oil before placing potatoes into the baking dish.) 

  8. Pour the cheese sauce evenly over potatoes, do not stir.

  9. Next, sprinkle remaining Cheddar and Parmesan cheese over top.

  10. Bake uncovered at 375 degrees Fahrenheit (191°C) for about 1 hour or until the top turns golden.
