Can you eat potatos when your cholesterol is high?
by Don Mayville
My cholesterol and LDL is high, can I eat potatoes and how?
Hello Don, in my opinion you could eat them because potatoes are probably one of the healthiest vegetables and don't have cholesterol.
You can eat potatoes in numerous ways like: boiled, roasted (they can taste just like fried), grilled and much more. It is crucial to understand that they can be prepared in a very healthy way but you shouldn't add: butter, cheese, bacon, ham and processed dressings.
An appropriate way for someone particularly with health issues is to keep them simple; rinse the potatoes before and after peeling them.
- If you like mashed potatoes use some potato milk and a vegan spread. You can get that at any health food store.
- Use extra virgin olive oil, avoid red meats; you could eat potatoes with some baked lean chicken or turkey breast.
