Are potato sprouts poison?

Potato sprouts are toxic (poisonous), not edible. This is because sprouts produce a chemical called “solanine” , which is toxic if you eat it. 

If a potato has sprouts just cut them off and if the rest of the potato is fine, then you can cook and eat the potato.
