What Sort of Potato is there in Australia (black man's potato)

by Ko
(Australia)

It is big and we don't know what sort is it.

Answer :

Hello,

There are many types of potatoes grown in Australia. Most of the potatoes grown in the region are mainly from the following areas: Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia.

Among the most common varieties in Australia are: Red Pontiac, Sequoia, Kennebec, Russet Burbank, and Desiree.

In your question you also mentioned the phrase "Black man's potato". The "Black man's potato" (also known as lack man's potato or potato orchid) is the name of an Australian orchid variety (Gastrodia sesamoides), which is not related to any variety of potato.
