Scalloped Potatoes Recipe

The scalloped potatoes recipe is really easy to prepare.

It is great for a side dish. It takes only 10 minutes to prepare and about 1 hour to be ready. Take a look at the recipe below.

Here is the recipe:

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 1 hour

4  servings

Ingredients:

1 clove of garlic, smashed
2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
2 1/4 pounds potatoes  (Yellow Finn potatoes, preferable)
2 cups of half-and-half
1 tablespoon  of salt
ground black pepper
ground nutmeg

scalloped potatoes

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Rub the garlic around the inside of an 8 x 8 x 2 inch casserole dish and let it dry. Reserve the remaining garlic since you will use it later. Now, rub the butter around the inside of the dish. Reserve the remaining butter, too.

  • Then, peel and thinly slice the potatoes. If you can, use a vegetable slicer. (about 1/8-inch-thick slices)

  • In a medium saucepan combine the garlic, butter, potatoes, half-and-half, salt, pepper to taste, and nutmeg. Bring the mix to a boil, then lower the heat to medium-high, and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring, until the mixture has thickened. Add the mixture to the prepared dish. (Potatoes should be distributed evenly).

  • Bake the potatoes until lightly browned (about 1 hour).

  • Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
