Healthy Oven Fries

Eating oven fries is one way to eat healthy without having to sacrifice taste. In our modern society more people eat from fast food restaurants every day. One reason for this is the lack of time to prepare a good meal. Unfortunately this way of living is having terrible effects on our health. Many health conditions have been appearing and becoming more frequent each day.

Conditions like cancer and diabetes are threatening the population and the medical science have been unable to stop them. Heart diseases have become one of the top causes of death in the industrialized world.

All of these diseases have been affecting the quality of our lives. Hospital expenses are skyrocketing and most people cannot afford to get sick. The good news is that you can prevent many diseases by following healthy eating habits. Some people do not like eating healthy because the taste of the food is not very appealing. The good part is that you can make healthy food as tasty as any meal from a restaurant. Vegetables and fruits can be combined in such a way that you will be able to enjoy delicious plates with plenty of nutrients.

Fries in wedgesOne vegetable that has amazing versatility is the potato. Potatoes are very nutritious and you can make great meals with them. One of the mouthwatering dishes you can prepare with potatoes is oven fries. These kinds of fries are a bit different from the popular French fries. French fries are normally cooked in a frying pan with plenty of oil.

Normally the oil has too much trans and saturated fats making the fries quite unhealthy. Oven fries do not have that problem. This type of fries barely need oil; making them an ideal option for healthy eating habits.

The process for making them is very simple.

You begin by peeling the potatoes and cutting them into wedges of any size you see fit, just like the normal fries. Then you pre heat the oven to 400 Fahrenheit degrees for approximately 5 minutes. Once the oven is hot enough, turn it down to 350° F. Then put the fries in it and toss some paprika and any other spice of your liking. Finally spread some olive oil over them and wait. After 20 minutes turn the fries and wait for 20 minutes more. Once the fries have the characteristic golden color you sprinkle them with some salt and they are ready.
