Mashed potatoes, however, are not only simple to prepare; you can make them in just a few minutes without hassle. They work very well for people that love a good home cooked meal but do not have that much time available for preparing an elaborated dish.

Preparation Time: 7 minutes

Cream cheese mashed potatoes

Cooking Time: 35 minutes

Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 6 Russet potatoes (rinsed and diced)
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2/3 cup cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. The potatoes should be placed in a deep saucepan.

  2. Cover them with water.

  3. At this point you should add the salt.

  4. Bring to boil, then lower the heat until potatoes are tender (for about 35 to 40 minutes).

  5. Drain and place into a bowl.

  6. Add the cream cheese, the buttermilk and mash the potatoes. Is always important to mash very well the potatoes to get the smooth texture.

The cream cheese mashed potatoes can be prepared in just a few short steps which is ideal if you need to make a good meal for your family and you do not want to rely on the microwave. The first thing you are going to notice is the short preparation time. Approximately 7 minutes are necessary to prepare this exquisite delicacy but that’s not all. Besides being among the recipes that have a "not so long" cooking time, these potatoes are really delectable.

The Russet potatoes are really the way to go due to their soft texture. Red ones can be troublesome if you try to use them for mashing since they are very firm. The cream cheese is the ingredient that makes wonders on almost every dish. As you put it over the potatoes the aroma of the recipe will compel you to taste it.

Tip:

Sautéed red onion slices are completely optional but if you decide to use them you will see the extra kick in the flavor and they work great as a garnish (add them at the side of the potatoes on the plates).
