  Best Potato Salad Recipe

The best potato salad recipe mostly used in holidays to share with the family. The taste of the classic salad is appropiate to be combined with chicken and also with some baked turkey.

It is a simple recipe that anybody can cook. You can use some chopped red bell pepper instead of carrot for a more traditional taste.

Preparing Time: 15 minutes

Cooking Time: 45 minutes

Serving Size: 5 servings

Ingredients:

  • 6 russet potatoes 
  • 1/2 apple (chopped)
  • 1/4 onion (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp shredded carrot or 1/4 cup red bell pepper (chopped)
  • 6 tbsp mayonnaise
  • salt, sugar (to taste)

 
Directions:

1- Wash the potatoes throughly, dry them with a small kitchen towell so that they don't slip.

2- Peel the potatoes, make sure that they don't have any green spots on them. Dispose any green or black potato.

3- In a medium saucepan add the potatoes, water until they are covered and some salt.

4- Boil them at medium temperature (4) for about 45 minutes or until tender to the fork; turning them ocassionally.

5- Put the potatoes on a glass container.

6- While the potatoes are still hot, cut them in the smallest pieces possible.

7- Wait for the potatoes to cool down.

8- Now add the mayonaisse, salt and sugar.

9- Use a salad spatula and mix everything until the texture is smooth.

10- Add the chopped onion, apple and stir a bit.

11- Sprinkle the shredded carrot (or sweet bell pepper) all over the potatoes and mix everything.

12- Cover and refrigerate overnight to let the flavors combine well. Use it as a sidedish for the next day.
