Baked Potato Toppings

We're having a potato bar and need suggestions for baked potato toppings. We have butter, grated cheese, bacon, chives, sour cream, chili, stew.
Do you have any other ideas or suggestions?


Answer:

Having a potato bar is a great idea. It provides your guests a flavorful meal and it's also a low cost alternative. If you want to offer your guests a selection of toppings to choose from there are other alternatives like shredded beets, turkey or chicken breast(shredded), chopped red onions, sliced olives, shredded carrots, cream cheese, and cubed lean turkey ham.




Also, broccoli, sauteed mushrooms, celery, tomatoes, peppers, and garlic.

When shredding the vegetables do it as thinly as possible for easier chewing.


Combination ideas for potato toppings:

1- cream cheese, turkey ham
2- onion, chicken and olives
3- cream cheese, ham and beets
4- stew, onion and bacon
5- chicken, bacon and carrots
6- butter and turkey ham
7- chili and a bit of sour cream
8- cream cheese, chicken and bacon
9- sour cream and chives
10- beets, turkey and grated cheese


Recommendations

When shopping for baked potato toppings, look for fresh vegetables. Meats should have less fat as possible.

Before setting up the potato bar, be sure to serve toppings in the following order: cold toppings like onions, tomatoes, olives, and peppers, for example, should be prepared and kept refrigerated first. Then, prepare the hot toppings, like bacon, ham, turkey, sauces or stew and keep them hot until serving time.

Don't serve too much food at once. Serve only what you estimate will be consumed in one hour.

Once toppings are ready to serve, don't leave them too much time at room temperature. One hour will be more than enough; after that time, discard them before adding fresh toppings again. It's not recommended putting them back in the refrigerator.

A potato bar or buffet will give your guests a good reason to eat potatoes more than once. With so many tasty toppings, I'm sure they will come back asking for more. And because of that, it's good to remember that many people tend to overload the potatoes with all the choices presented. That's why selecting good quality food will avoid many stomach discomforts later.
